Art of Paws Brunch

Art of Paws Brunch

This year we are proud to present, the Art of Paws. Since we held our 2021 Paws Gala in January (due to Covid of course), the GIHS Board of Directors and Paws Gala organizers feared gala fatigue and felt it would be over-imposing by repeating the same format twice in one year. Therefore, an equally extravagant event with a more relaxed donor solicitation structure, will be held in September. Be assured, in 2023 our Island favorite PAWS Gala will return.

The honoree for the Art of Paws will be Maureen McCutchen, a long-time board member who works tirelessly to support the animals, represent the shelter, and work alongside the staff at adoption events.

The afternoon will feature the following: Four hours of fun; Live Music and Dancing; Extraordinary Brunch Buffet; Full Open Bar; Themed Attire; Designated Seating; Bourbon and Bubbles Wall, Piece de Resistance (Golden Ticket), Bid Boards, and a Limited Silent Auction.

In 2022 we are dealing with a record number of pets being surrendered due to life circumstances. Caring for them is more of a challenge while we work diligently to find homes. It has required a larger staff and creative measures to find homes.

Your participation makes the difference, and you will have a PAWsome and mARTvelous time raising money for the animals!

Surf Dogs

The Galveston Island Humane Society (GIHS) is happy to present our 9th Annual Ohana Surf Dog Competition. The event begins at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16th. The public is invited to participate with their furry friends while raising funds to help advance our mission. Non-surfers come out to enjoy the fun in the sun, visit our vendors, and support our shelter. This all takes place on the beach at 27th Street on Galveston Island.

GIHS is committed to creating a united community where respect, kindness, and humane animal care are priorities. We have made it a mission to develop innovative life-saving adoption programs, high-volume community spay and neuter programs, serving animals and people in times of crisis, and engaging the community to be part of the solution.

We would like to thank our sponsors for helping make this event possible!

Hang Ten Sponsors: Tito’s Vodka, Moody Bank, and Campeche Cove Animal Hospital

Cowabunga Sponsors: Bone Voyage Pet Resort, Classic Auto Group, The Animal Clinic & The Cat Clinic, Float Pool & Patio Bar, The Galveston County Daily News, Salty Dog Wash, Susanna Mayberry, Angel and Laurence Wall
