For Jake, that second chance took time. This three-year-old Plott Hound mix arrived at GIHS in 2025 and waited six months for his first adoption. When he was returned on a cold January morning, his story with us began again.
While Jake waited, he received safe shelter, medical care, and enrichment. Borrow-a-Bestie outings gave him time away from the shelter and opportunities to connect with people. In July, he was adopted again.
Jake’s story reminds us that an animal’s needs do not follow a fundraising calendar. Some need a few days of care. Others depend on us for months.
That is why monthly giving matters so much.
As Executive Director, I see how dependable support helps us plan ahead and respond when animals and families need us. Monthly gifts help sustain everyday essentials food, medical care, and safe shelter while supporting our work to reunite lost pets, find adoptive homes, and help families keep the pets they love.
