The Galveston Island Humane Society presents our 19th annual PAWS Gala, Saturday, September 28th. This premier Galveston party is the largest fundraiser held by our non-profit shelter to assist with the operations of the shelter and the care provided to the pets in our care.

BONEhemian Rhapsody is the theme this year and will offer an exciting evening with an 80’s theme as we will honor Lea Fistein, DVM, owner of The Animal Clinic and The Cat Clinic. Master of Ceremonies is Frank Billingsley, KPRC/Channel 2’s Chief Meteorologist.

The evening will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:30 pm. Guests will visit with the Elite Pet Owners (EPO’s) and their precious pets featured in one large vignette. Nine EPO’s will be vying for their pet to be crowned “Pet of the Year”. The person who raises the most funding for the shelter through ticket and sponsor sales, donation, and auction items will win the coveted place in shelter history.

This year we have Trelle Dandridge, Barbara Sanderson, Lancer Benson, Eddie Timmons, Mary Branum, Angel Hagmaier, Erica Gentry Peace, Danielle Doland, and Stacy Hill. All of them will appreciate your support. The winner of the Elite Pet Owner competition will be the Parade Marshall and honored as the King or Queen of the 2020 Krewe of Barkus & Meoux Parade that is part of Galveston’s annual Mardi Gras festivities, set for Sunday afternoon, February 23, 2020.

Guests will also enjoy an open bar, seated dinner, and music by the band PASSWORD – guaranteed to keep partiers dancing! Co-chairs, Michelle Beckwith, Cynthia McEldowney, and Concetta Maceo Sims are promising a memorable evening!

Keeping with the BONEhemian Rhapsody theme, guests can choose to dress for the 80’s musical theme, dress up for a Gala, or come “Island Casual.” Guests will have the opportunity to bid on an incredible array of valuable silent auction items. A live auction will provide even more surprises. Chairs for this year’s auctions are Thresea Russ and Cat Cessac.

Please support the work of the GIHS by supporting Paws Gala and the Elite Pet Owners.
