22ND Annual Galveston Home & Garden Show
HOME & GARDEN SHOW - BLOOMING GREEN

to the Galveston Island Convention Center at the San Luis Resort, March 13 & 14 and will feature a full weekend of exhibits, and special presentations.

Benefiting the Galveston Island Humane Society, the Galveston Home & Garden Show promises to be bigger and better than ever! New exhibits, returning popular exhibits, as well as informative and fun presentations by noted professionals. More than 100 exhibitors will showcase the best materials on the market and assist with your home recovery, renovation or new construction. Show discounts will be offered at many vendor booths.

Back by popular demand is The Lazy Gardener, Brenda Beust Smith, who will talk about Gulf Coast gardening in a casual format designed to engage her audience with practical hints on growing what’s easy. Brenda will share cuttings from her yard at the end of her presentation. Connie Dryden, Island Flowers, will let us in on the secret of making every day a special occasion by enjoying flower arrangements at home and will show us how simple it can be to plan for that special day.

Green, green, green is the message from the Galveston Historical Foundation, US Green Building Council and Blu Shields Construction. Come hear about GHF’s Green Revival Program where they will rehabilitate a historic home, transforming it to a model of sustainable technology utilizing 90 – 100% of recycled or salvaged materials making it LEED Platinum Certified.

Learn how Energy Solution Homes and Blu Shields Construction designed, engineered and built the largest ADA energy efficient home ever built for The Extreme Makeover Home Edition in just 106 hours. The ADA high energy efficient home features an ADA play ground and elevator as well as xeroscape landscaping which was developed on one acre in just 9 hours and 54 minutes.

Abry Bros Foundation repair will demonstrate how cost effective and simple it can be to level the foundation or raise a home, and look for Home Elevators of Texas to provide information on making your home ADA compliant.

New home or old home, memories are forever. Neva Young, owner of Croppin’Bug Scrapbooking will help you keep the family legend in tact and get you on the road to sharing memories for generations. Neva will help you preserve your family history by showing you how to organize those memories and keepsakes in scrapbooks that will be cherished for ever.

Jean Lafitte, the first homebuilder in Galveztown – Myth or Legend? Founding member and past president of The Lafitte Society, Jim Nonus, will talk about The Maison Rouge, home of Jean and Pierre Lafitte and the eventful summer of 1818 and The Hurricane that flooded the Island September 13, one hundred and ninety years to the day, before Hurricane Ike.

Family friendly, the Galveston Home & Garden Show is a great place to spend the day learning about new materials and techniques for the home. Bring your shopping list and take advantage of having outstanding professionals guide you to the best products and services available, and specially priced plants to add to your garden. A highlight of the show is the Pet Adoption Center at show central where each adoptive family will receive a family pet photo and a short obedience training session with the trainers from Mutts with Manners.

WHY: The annual benefit for the Galveston Island Humane Society offers the opportunity to meet contractors, landscaping companies, buy plants and home furnishings. More than 100 exhibitors from floors to windows, interiors and exteriors will offer show specials from discounted services to merchandise offered at this show only! In addition, special presentations by home and garden professionals will take place regularly throughout both days of the show and there will be drawings for gifts every two hours.

COST: Admission: $7 pr person. .4 & under free. Parking free.
