| GALVESTON HOME & GARDEN SHOW BLOOMS IN MARCH |

GALVESTON, TX – The 21st Annual Galveston Home & Garden Show will be held March 14 & 15, 2009, at the Galveston Island Convention Center at the San Luis Resort, 5500 Seawall Boulevard.
The Home & Garden Show, benefiting the Galveston Island Humane Society, is a showcase of home improvement and gardening products for purchase, professional presentations, exhibits, and demonstrations.
A highlight of the show includes a special appearance and presentation by Bill Stubbs, internationally acclaimed interior designer, author, and host of the PBS series Moment of Luxury. Stubbs appears regularly on Good Morning America and Martha Stewart’s Living television and radio broadcasts. In addition, Daryl McDonald, PhD, published and noted authority on oleanders, will make a presentation on Historic Landscape Gardening and assist gardeners in re-establishing their foliage following the devastation of Hurricane Ike. Gordon Baxter of the Houston Rose Society will offer spectacular roses for sale, and instruct on growing roses successfully on the Gulf Coast, and the Galveston Garden Club will return again with Texas sized giant caladiums.
From swimming pools and home remodeling experts, to lawn and pet care, the Galveston Home & Garden Show is a wonderful way to spend the day with the added bonus of supporting the local animal shelter.
The Galveston Island Humane Society, beneficiary of the event, rescued more than 1,000 pets post Ike. Temporarily housed on 53rd & Avenue U, staff and volunteers picked up, housed, fed, identified and photographed abandoned and lost pets, making every effort to re-unite them with their families via media announcements and web sites. With the cooperation and support of the Houston Humane Society, most of the animals were claimed by their families, adopted or placed in foster homes. The Galveston Island Humane Society will have pets for adoption at the Home & Garden Show. All pet lovers are invited to visit them at the event to learn more about the animal programs and services provided to the community.
More than 100 exhibitors participated in the event last year, and all interested home improvement, gardening, and other related businesses are welcome to participate by reserving a booth to show and sell their merchandise or services.
